Why So Serious?

be kindMost of our posts are humorous but today I get to write about anything I want, so I’m going to get serious. Cwall loves when I do that. I saw this anonymous quote this morning and it gave me an idea for our anything-goes-Friday posts: “Sometimes I regret being nice, apologizing when I didn’t do anything wrong and for making unworthy people a priority in my life.” It’s an interesting thought. My mom used to drive me crazy because every time I was mad at someone she would say, “Well, maybe they were having a bad day.” As if everything anyone did could have a completely legitimate excuse. As a friend, you shouldn’t have to explain yourself for every little thing you do. We should be ready to always give people the benefit of the doubt. Even when it comes to strangers too. Maybe that car that cut you off was rushing to the hospital, or your boss that’s being short with you hasn’t slept in days because they are taking care of their sick parent, or your friend that bailed on you last minute was having a family crisis – all true experiences. Whatever it is, don’t be so quick to take it personal. Whether it’s public or private, everyone is fighting a hard battle. ~Dutch
