Pitchfork Media

In a time when you can access music anywhere at any time, it may be overwhelming to decide what’s the best place for finding new music. Some people still listen to Pandora but I prefer Slacker and I Heart Radio. But instead of Googling your favorite bands all the time to get more info, try Pitchfork.com. It has a good range of genres but focuses on indie music – my fave. You may have heard of the Pitchfork Festival this summer that featured bands like Vampire Weekend, Beach House, and Godspeed. I didn’t hear about it until afterwards but Chicago is kinda far for me anyway. The site concentrates on new music but they also publish their “best of” lists. Even though the Top 40 right now includes Fun, Imagine Dragons, and Mumford & Sons, you can’t go to most sites without seeing hundreds of pictures of One Direction and Justin Bieber. At Pitchfork, you can get news on Bjork, Sufjan Stevens, Wilco, Shout out Louds…and those are all on the first page right now. Also, Trent Reznor’s new video is available. Bookmark their site! Stay updated on your favorite bands and learn about rising artists.     ~Dutch
