These days, it’s almost more common to have food allergies than to not. Dairy-free, gluten-free, vegetarian – these are all familiar. But have you heard of the Specific Carbohydrate Diet? This plan eliminates grains, sugar, starches, and processed food. One might choose this lifestyle due to digestive disorders such as Celiac disease, Ulcerative Colitis, or Crohn’s. Having a diet with easy to digest natural foods and eliminating complex carbs, lactose, and sucrose allows the body to maintain proper digestion. Our good pal Jadah over at Eat With Your Eyes has a site completely dedicated to SCD. This strict diet has a number of restrictions but Jadah shows that you don’t have to sacrifice enjoying your meals. She posts SCD recipes regularly but there’s something for everyone. I got to sample her sangria this week (picture shown) and it was amazing! She’s not all talk either, this girl has discipline I’ve never seen. Take a look at her site and try a recipe.
