Baby, it’s cold outside

It’s “WorldWideWednesday”! Today, we will take you to a cozy spot in the mountains of North Carolina. Most people have heard of Asheville or the Biltmore. Well, 40 minutes north is a place called Hot Springs, known for its natural hot mineral waters. It’s located along the banks of Spring Creek and the French Broad River, and an intersection along the Appalachian Trail. Besides the obvious appeal of hiking, whitewater rafting, and fishing, you can take a nice romantic weekend away without breaking the bank. Hot Springs has a 100 acre resort & spa. They feature hot tubs along the creek with a continuous flow of natural hot mineral water. After hearing so much about the area from friends, my husband and I went to see for ourselves. As we pulled into the resort, which really just looked like “the woods” at first, it started snowing! The staff was awesome, we had a great view, and it’s one of my fondest memories of the mountains. Go and stay for the day at the spa or spend the weekend in one of their rustic cabins. These range from $45-65 night, or you can book the private Sandbar House with more room and amenities for $300 a night. I’m sure living in luxury is nice, but there’s just something about enjoying the little things of nature. Make your reservations here.                   ~Dutch
